Combined strip and discharge delivery of containers in heterogeneous fleets with time windows

Inland transportation of containers contributes significantly to the total cost container intermodal transportation. For this reason, it has received a lot attention in last few decades. While there are many reports attempts solve problem out there, variants considered all simpler than form addressed paper. Here, we consider where pick-up and delivery orders, empty loaded containers, Discharge Strip heterogeneous types with time windows, handled truck fleets that carry one or two 20ft 40ft chassis. Moreover, manage movement reuse strategies for empties, i.e. Depot-turn Street-turn, simultaneously allowed setting. A novel MILP model rich is developed, which applies various scenarios, even when some functions/delivery modes/types container, disabled. Given complexity problem, exact solution large instances not realistic. We, therefore, suggest implementation Genetic Algorithm (GA) tailored particular its form. It differs from existing ones VRP problems due nature considering. Numerical experiments on examples real geographical data show combining saves increases fleet utilisation.
